New Mexico Autism Society
The mission of the New Mexico Autism Society is to promote lifelong access and opportunities for persons within the autism spectrum and their families, to be fully included, participating members of their communities through advocacy, public awareness, education, and research related to autism.
Mission Statement: We create connections, empowering everyone in the Autism community with the resources needed to live life fully.
* Provide and promote autism related educational programs and conferences to members and the community.
* Form committees to work on autism related projects.
* Publish emails and social media posts to keep the public informed of what Autism Society New Mexico is working on or providing.
* Advocate and lobby for state and federal legislation to assist families and individuals with autism.
* Work on state and local committees with other agencies and organizations to further goals and to improve resources.
* Affiliate of Autism Society of America. Following their lead and work collaboratively on programs and policy.
* Safety of the Spectrum Training - First responder training about Autism. This training is an hour and a half and provides insight on Autism and how to interact with Autistic individuals. After each training, attendees receive sensory bags to help in communication with individuals who may need help in communication or regulation.
