Voices for Economic Opportunity

In September, the Kellogg Foundation joined the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation and others in support of the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation's Voices for Economic Opportunity initiative. Voices for Economic Opportunity is a national challenge calling for ideas to combat harmful narratives about poverty in the U.S. and tell authentic stories that help to bolster opportunity.

The W.K. Kellogg Foundation is collaborating on this learning journey with children, their families and communities in mind. The opportunity from our perspective is to share our knowledge about how structural racism affects economic systems and widen the reach of this effort within our broad community networks.

If you would like to share this opportunity with peer funders, grantees or professional networks, here's what you need to know:

Voices for Economic Opportunity is requesting proposals for creative and compelling ideas from individuals and organizations from all sectors in the U.S. to elevate diverse voices and broaden the national conversation about poverty and economic mobility. Anyone with a great concept is welcome to apply for a $100,000 grant to develop their idea. Applications are due Wednesday, Nov. 13, 2019.

This call for ideas is designed to support individuals and organizations interested in contributing to the long-term work of undoing assumptions and improving the understanding of poverty through the authentic stories of those that experience it.
