UNM Business Students Provide Free Consulting

Need Help With a Strategic Business Plan?

The UNM Small Business Institute (SBI) at the Anderson School of Management is accepting client applications through Friday, January 12, 2018 for the spring semester 2018 cohort group.

Since its founding in 1978, the UNM SBI has worked with 25-30 student teams every semester, guided by a professor with subject matter expertise, to prepare Strategic Business Plans and conduct Market Research Studies for local businesses, government agencies and nonprofit organizations.

As a participant in the program, you would meet with your student team 3-4 times over the course of the spring 2018 semester including a final presentation of your team’s findings and a confidential management report for your review in May 2018. All client project fees for the 2017-2018 academic year have been waived through the generous support of Bank of America.

For the past few years, UNM SBI student teams have consistently been awarded top honors in the National SBI Institute’s® Project of the Year competition, competing against 75+ member universities nationwide. In addition, a Mid-Region Council of Governments (MRCOG) Economic Impact Study found that SBI clients, who applied their student team’s recommendations between 2014 and 2015, created 195 jobs and increased the state’s personal income by $8.28 million.

Apply to the UNM SBI program. The application deadline is Friday, January 12, 2018. For more information, please contact Stacy Sacco at either [email protected] or (505) 489-2311.
