About FII:

The Family Independence Initiative (FII) believes that our country greatly underestimates the ability of low-income families to develop their own paths forward. FII partners with groups of families in cities across the nation to document and learn from the actions they take to improve their lives. FII uses longitudinal data families self report to develop tools that give them access to financial and social capital they can use to fuel their efforts to move forward. FII is modeling the creation of a demand-driven marketplace of opportunity and investment.

Today, FII partners with more than 1,000 low-income families (comprising nearly 4,000 adults, youth, and children) across sites in Boston, Oakland, San Francisco, Fresno, Albuquerque, Detroit, and New Orleans.
