4 Things to Do to Get Out the Vote

Registering and helping people vote is one way to further empower the people we serve. Check out these 4 things nonprofits can do to get out the vote (via Nonprofit VOTE):

On November 4th, voters will decide on all 435 seats in the House of Representatives, 36 Senate seats, 36 Governorships, and numerous contests for local office. There will be also be 136 statewide ballot measures in 41 states. In many states, ballots will be cast well before Election Day. 3.  Know and Promote Registration Deadlines 

In every New Mexico, you must be registered in order to vote. Make sure your community has the chance to participate in the 2014 midterm by registering on time. New Mexico's voter voter registration deadline is October 7.  See all state's deadlines.

 

 

4.  Encourage Early Voting

With Election Day less than 5 weeks away, it's time to start focusing on how to ensure community members are prepared to vote and actually cast a ballot.

One way to increase participation is by encouraging early voting opportunities, either in-person or by mail depending on your state. Voting early often provides voters with additional flexibility in casting a ballot. Learn how to request an absentee ballot or find an in-person early voting location.
