Main Areas of Responsibility:
Seeking six Wilderness Rangers, based in Albuquerque, Coyote, and Questa, New Mexico to coordinate work in wilderness areas within the Cibola, Santa Fe, and Carson National Forests, respectively. The Wilderness Rangers will execute a variety of projects to accomplish monitoring requirements needed for Forest Service Wilderness Stewardship Performance elements, including invasive species, trails, solitude, primitive and unconfined recreation, and recreation sites, and volunteer coordination.
Additional Areas of Responsibility:
The ideal candidate will have knowledge of wilderness management, practical knowledge of natural resources and land management and monitoring, analytical skills, experience organizing volunteers, and knowledge & utilization of backcountry travel – work and camping practices.
