Community Educator

Main Areas of Responsibility: 

The Community Educator promotes community-wide violence prevention by addressing the root causes of domestic violence, sexual assault, and child abuse. This role delivers school-based trainings,
community workshops, and outreach across Taos County, while strengthening partnerships and
supporting efforts to end violence and uplift survivors.

Additional Areas of Responsibility: 

Serves as a community educator for CAV violence prevention and outreach programs throughout Taos County. Provides prevention education to schools, community organizations, businesses, faith-based groups, alternative education settings, and statewide partners. Assesses audience needs, collaborates with the team to adapt curriculum, and prepares and organizes materials, handouts, and supplies for program sessions.

Other Information/Requirements: 

High school diploma/GED and two years of experience in domestic violence services or related prevention work required. Strong communication, organization, facilitation, problem-solving, and computer skills, with knowledge of child development, abuse dynamics, and trauma-informed practices. Experience in youth services, education, human services, or program development preferred. Flexibility for occasional weekends and willingness to complete required training.
