Main Areas of Responsibility: 

The Certified Peer Support Worker uses a trauma-informed approach to provide comfortable emergency shelter at Barrett House. The Certified Peer Support Worker supports residents with their daily needs and helps to maintain a clean, safe shelter. The Certified Peer Support Worker is responsible for upholding shelter policies by ensuring compliance with rules and regulations among clients, up to and including the completion of emergency discharges as needed.

Additional Areas of Responsibility: 

• Maintain a professional and positive attitude when interacting with residents, colleagues, and volunteers
• Ensure strict adherence to confidentiality and ethical guidelines
• Participate in ongoing training and professional development
• Promote safety and emergency procedures awareness
• Perform any other duties as assigned by the supervisor

Other Information/Requirements: 

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Certified Peer Support Worker Certification and/or the ability to obtain certification within six months. To become a CPSW, an individual must be 18 years of age or older, have a valid high school diploma or GED and have been in recovery for an extended period of a minimum (3) or more years, achieving mental health wellness and/or not engaged in substance use.
• Minimum of two years of related experience
