Mission/Giving Statement: To create a more humane and compassionate world by ending abuse and neglect of children and animals. American Humane's Pets and Women's Shelters Program Fund raises awareness about the link between animal abuse and other forms of violence, as well as the benefits derived from the human-animal bond.

Grantmanking Program Area Descriptions:

Domestic/Family Violence Emergency Housing Shelters: The program fund encourages domestic and family violence emergency housing shelters to permit residents to bring their pets with them by implementation of a PAWS Program in every domestic violence shelter throughout the United States to help keep people and their pets safe.

Type of Funding/Funding Restrictions: This is a one-time start-up grant. Only domestic/family violence and women's emergency sheltering agencies (private or public) will be considered. Individuals, animal shelters, businesses, and corporations are not provided for in the guidelines of the Fund.
