Mission/Giving Statement: The National Endowment for the Arts is a public agency dedicated to supporting excellence in the arts, both new and established; bringing the arts to all Americans; and providing leadership in arts education.

Grantmaking Program Areas: ArtWorks; Challenge America Fast-Track; Our Town; Research: Art Works

Grantmaking Program Area Descriptions:

ArtWorks: Supports the creation of art that meets the highest standards of excellence, public engagement with diverse and excellent art, lifelong learning in the arts, and the strengthening of communities through the arts. Grants range from $10,000 to $100,000.

Challenge America Fast-Track: Supports projects that extend the reach of the arts to underserved populations. Grants are for $10,000.

Our Town:Organizations may apply for creative placemaking projects that contribute to the livability of communities and place the arts at their core. Matching grants range from $25,000 to $200,000.

Research: Art Works: The Research: Art Works category supports research projects to analyze the value and impact of the arts in the United States. Generally range from $10,000 to $30,000.

Application Instructions: The NEA requires all applicants to apply online through www.grants.gov. Grant application instructions are online and vary for each grant. Please note, applications must include a Dun and Bradstreet Data Universal Numbering System (DUNS) number and register with the Central Contractor’s Registry (CCR). It is suggested that this be completed at least 30 days in advance of the application due date.
