Mission/Giving Statement: In recognition of the interdependence of the Los Alamos National Laboratory and Northern New Mexico communities, the LANL Foundation exists to enhance the vitality of the region by investing in education, learning, and community development.

The Foundation’s vision is to play a central role in improving the quality of education in Northern New Mexico, generating positive outcomes for children at all levels.   The Foundation serves as a catalyst for successful innovation in community and educational endeavors, leading the region in creating excellence and playing a part in the future of Los Alamos National Laboratory.

Grantmaking Program Areas: Science, Technology, Engineering & Mathematics (STEM)

Grantmaking Program Area Descriptions:

STEM: The LANL Foundation supports organizations addressing critical public education needs in the areas of science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM), including STEM activities in the areas of teacher/curriculum enhancement, educational technology and student support. The LANL Foundation also provides small grants of up to $1,500 for community outreach and STEM-related projects and events supporting education and learning in the region.

Type of Funding/ Funding Restrictions: The LANL Foundation funds: Regional school districts; Nonprofit educational organizations; Government agencies; and Pueblo/Tribal communities. It does not fund: Individuals or fraternal, veteran, labor or athletic organizations serving a limited constituency; Political or lobbying organizations; Organizations whose activities are mainly international; Private Foundations; and Capital fund drives of colleges.
