Grantmaking Program Area Descriptions:

Pueblo Culture: Programs that support and help sustain tribal life and traditions and that also encourage innovative change are the primary focus of the foundation’s giving. The foundation has never considered its purpose to be the preservation of Pueblo culture as an antiquity. Rather, Chamiza believes that New Mexico’s Pueblo tribes offer a culture to be emulated and one that is very much worth sustaining.

Type of Funding/ Funding Restrictions: Grants are made to: New Mexico's Pueblo Indian organizations and tribal governments; Community leaders, artist or other individuals within Pueblo communities; and Non-pueblo organizations requesting support for programs serving the pueblos but not originated by these entities are also eligible but must submit written evidence that the community to be served by the program is requesting it.
