When advocacy is paired with providing services, nonprofits make a bigger difference in their communities. You will tackle how to think strategically and long-term about your work, and gain practical, hands-on advocacy skills which you can put to good use immediately.

Presenters

Ariel Bickel, Chispa Consulting, brings a rich history of community organizing and activism to her political and nonprofit consulting; she specializes in organizing in rural and marginalized communities. A highly sought-after coach and mentor, Ariel facilitates positive culture shift and professional development within organizations. She currently serves on a number of New Mexico nonprofit boards. 

Pamelya Herndon, Executive Director, Southwest Women's Law Center. Pamelya is a former General Counsel and Deputy Cabinet Secretary in New Mexico state government, and a former senior trial attorney with the IRS.  Pamelya has been recognized for her work: 2012 Public Lawyer of the Year, 2013 Lawyer of the Year, 2014 Outstanding Community Service Award, 2015 Woman of Influence, and 2015 Outstanding Business Woman.
